Experience authentic connection to yourself, community and the natural world in the lush coastal beauty of Nicaragua.
Immerse in practice and play on this 7 day retreat in the bounty of nature. Together, we will shed our skins to experience deep healing, connection and nourishment. In the spirit of sacred reciprocity, we will give back to the land and local community through meaningful seva (service) projects.
Come as you are, and be prepared to
soften into who you really are.
Start each morning with a invigorating yoga journey integrating asana, kriya, pranayama, mantra, meditation and free movement. Explore yoga as a state of consciousness we take with us into our day.
Attune to yourself as you build trustworthy, empowering, nourishing connections with others through the practices of authentic relating. Learn communication skills that will serve you deeply in your life.
Give back to the local community and the land through meaningful service projects, including supporting the baby turtle sanctuary, working with the local village school and cleaning up the beaches.
What's so life-changing about a yoga adventure, anyway?
Over the years, we've journeyed to Costa Rica, Bali, Peru and India offering incredible retreats of transformation and inspiration. We've perfected the balance of an ample amount of relaxation and downtime, with experiences that bring profound growth and expansion. In the spirit of Hanuman (the monkey superhero whose famous leap gave the splits pose it's name), we explore generosity, devotion and being in service as a way of life.
For the first time ever, we feel called to adventure to Nicaragua!
This retreat will support you to reset and grow on all levels - body, heart, mind and soul.
Similar to Costa Rica fifty years ago (before widespread development and popularity), Nicaragua is a natural paradise of coastal forest and pristine beaches. Nicaragua is considered one of the safest countries in Latin America, and the locals are welcoming and friendly to visitors.
We will enjoy the gorgeous, secluded beach and breathtaking views from our hilltop retreat center, where we will practice everyday and nourish ourselves in nature and community.
On the Pacific side of Nicaragua, Verdad is situated on the hillside overlooking the beautiful sandy beach of The Costa Dulce Surfside Community at Playa Escameca, which is just north of Costa Rica.
At Verdad, we will experience the real Nicaragua: the open and generous people as well as the magical setting. Located in a tropical dry forest, we will be surrounded by a plethora of wildlife, including howler monkeys, lizards of all shapes and sizes, four species of sea turtles (that often come lay their eggs on the beach), as well as a wide array of birds that make for a bird watchers' paradise.
Be prepared to enjoy healthy, delicious food all week long, prepared onsite with local, fresh ingredients. We will enjoy freshly picked greens and herbs from the garden, produce from the local farmer’s market, seafood from the shores of the beach below us, and fresh eggs and homemade yogurt from local suppliers.
Meals will be enjoyed in the beautiful dining area overlooking the ocean, or poolside. Fresh fruit, juices, tea and Nicaraguan coffee will be available all day.
Hanuman Adventures was one of the most transformative journeys of my life. I laughed. I cried. I broke down. I broke through…and I learned about the beautiful balancing act of self-care and sacred service. The law of reciprocity is potent. Love happened… Thank you is my mantra for this experience. I will never be the same. – S.S.
One of the highlights for me were going to see the underprivileged children at the school were we served them. It was an absolute pleasure to meet them all. The whole adventure was transformative and life-changing. To describe it in one word...awesome. - C.R.
I've learned so much that has opened my mind to more possibilities, both for myself and for the world around me. I'm so taken by how kind everyone is, and having a sense of community in a way that I wasn't feeling before I came here was really special. - M.H.

Nicaragua is statistically safer than Mexico, Costa Rica, and many cities in the USA.
So why does the USA have a travel advisory for Nicaragua?
In April 2018 there was a protest mainly in 2 cities against an increase in taxes and reduction on social security benefits. The government's response to this was terrible and violent. However, this action was over a year ago and since that time there has been no protest activity. Every country that put out a travel advisory (Canada, Sweden, England, Germany, France, Holland, etc) has taken off the advisory. The USA is the only country that has not, which is politically motivated, not about safety.
Our retreat is in a pristine area, surrounded by nature, on the coast of Nicaragua. The locals are like family to our hosts and we will be welcomed into the community. We will not spend any time in the big cities, where safety could be more of a concern.
The best choice is to fly into the international airport in Managua, Nicaragua. You can also choose to fly into or Liberia, Costa Rica. We will arrange your pick up at either airport, and it takes approximately 2 hours to drive to the retreat center.
The morning classes are an integrative blend of pranayama and kriyas (energy-building practices) with asana and free movement to cleanse your body/mind and vitalize your whole being. Evening practices are more restorative and yin in nature, designed to nourish and calm your nervous system. Mantra, mudra and meditative practices will be woven into all classes.
We will explore yoga not only as a practice we do on our mats, but as a state of consciousness we take with us into every moment of our lives.
The yoga classes are all levels. Dayna is skilled at giving modifications for each level of student.
You will be invited to tune in with your body and personal limitations, and follow your inner wisdom in each practice.
Yoga is so much more than a practice we do on our mats. Yoga is a way of life, and this type of yoga is accessible to all bodies, shapes and levels of experience. It is a never-ending journey of self-inquiry, evolution and embodiment, and we will practice this living yoga throughout our time together.
During your free time, you are welcome to rent a board and hit the waves. Surf lessons are easy to find and we can help arrange those for you.
Free time for rest and rejuvenation, or following your own creative impulse, is a priority on this retreat. We will create space and time for you to do your own thing every day. Our adventurous group outings happen about every other day.
Authentic relating is a set of 5 practices designed to cultivate vulnerable, intimate, trustable, empowering and nourishing connections and relationships. It's like taking the principles of yoga off the mat into connection with others. We will explore these 5 basic relational practices throughout our week to bring us into deeper connection with ourselves and each other, allowing ourselves to experience the healing that comes from deeply seeing others, and being seen ourselves in all of our humanity.
